I have been very dilatory with my efforts to lose weight. I SAY I want to lose weight, but I don’t stick to my program, I don’t consistently track everything I eat and I am struggling. So I have decided to take a journey to try to stop sabotaging myself.
What food do I eat to excess or can’t stop eating until it is gone? I have lots of them. Why do these foods affect me in this way?
Mashed potatoes- When I was growing up, mashed potatoes were an item for a special occasion. We always had boiled potatoes, but NOT the kind that was mashed up and whipped with a little milk in it. Yum! Maybe that’s why I love them. It reminds me of special occasions.
Macaroni and cheese- Don’t know. Not a family staple and even an occasional item.
Starches- Very filling foods. I don’t remember ever going hungry as a child or adult, so why do I love starches?
Maybe depression is the reason. I have been depressed most of my life. I am on medication now, because I am tired of feeling like crying all the time. Lately it hasn’t helped very much. Anything that touches me makes me tear up. I saw a young boy yesterday at the prison. He was having his picture taken with his mom and dad (I’m guessing). He had one arm around each of them and was grinning –obviously so very happy to be with both of them- I started tearing up again. So happy or sad, thinking about my mom, I want to weep.
Am I trying to fill the hole that the depression has left in me? I don’t know.

Sidetracked Again
I have been Sidetracked all of my life. I go to do something, and forget what I am going to do before I get there. It has only gotten worse as I get older. As you can see by my last post I got sidetracked.
I have been trying to do Fly Lady for 8 years and still am not following through on it. I am almost as clutttered as I was when I started. I don't do the daily or weekly missions. I don't always get dressed to shoes when I get up. I never put my clothes out for the next day. I can barely get myself to put things in a box or bag to take to DI or Salvation Army, but I rarely get them out the door. SHE- Side Tracked Home Executive- That's me.
I usually wait until the last minute to do my taxes. I usually don't have to pay much if at all (except for last year-sold a rental in 2006). But I can procrastinate with the best of them. This year things are much smoother and we got our taxes done TODAY! That's because I am going on a cruise in April and will be in Puerto Vallarta on April 15t
I am also on a mission to lose weight. I backslide last year when my Mom got Cancer and my sister and I took care of her until she died in October. I had lost 25 pounds by July but I gained 15 pounds back by Jan 1st. I have now lost 14 of those 15 pounds I gained and I am trying to continue to lose the other 80 pounds I need to lose. Oh Well I'll get it off somehow.

I am really a positive person?
What to write about?
Generally speaking I am a positive person. Occasionally a little depressed. Okay I've been on antidepressants since 1983. Everytime I try to get off of them I feel like crying a lot of the time. So I continue to take them.
Anyway as I was saying I am generally a positive person. I try not to hide my head in the sand and ignore all the bad things, but

Generally speaking
A new venture for me. I am not the world's best letter writer or blogger, but I like the concept.
I am a 61 year old woman who lives in Western Washington. I am third generation Washington State born. My maternal Grandmother was born in Pacific County the year Washington became a State ( That's 1889 for you non-Washingtonians).
My mother and I were also born in Pacific County Washington. I have lived in Washington almost all my life except for a couple of years in the Portland Oregon area. I enjoy it here. My children have moved around. My daughters live in West Michigan, and San Antonio Texas. My son lives in Western Washington also. I have 5 step kids. 3 live within 10 miles of us, one in Utah and one in Montana. Together we have 38 grandkids and 6 great grandkids.
I am a Registered Nurse and work 8 hr Evening shifts on a Cancer unit in a local hospital. It can be tough but I love it. I also work parttime as a Nursing Supervisor, 12 Hr night shifts, at the same hospital.
Enough for a first post. I will try to post once or twice a week, but as I said before I am NOT a letter writer, and blogging is much the smae.
Till Next Time.
