It's been a long time
It's been a long time since I wrote anything on this site (or anywhere else for that matter).
Daniel suggested I blog about my quilting. I started piecing quilts in mid March. I had 3 grandsons graduating high school, and I thought I would make each of them a quilt. Was I optimistic, or what!
I had hand quilted with my grandmother when I was about 12, and occasionally did some with the Relief Society (the women's organization at my church). But I had never pieced a quilt before. I am reasonably skilled at sewing, but some new equipment was needed, and new skills needed to be learned.
Fabric can be expensive, as well as a new sewing machine and tools for quilting.
Suffice it to say, I spent a lot of money this year.I have completed a twin bed quilt, a double bed quilt a lap quilt , a 15" square sit- upon quilt (for a photographer friend of mine), and a pair of Christmas placements. I have also completed the piecing on a king size quilt (and about halfway machine quilted), 2 queen size quilts, and 2 a table topper and 2 throw pillows.Currently I'm piecing blocks for another queen sized quilt and a twin bed quilt.
I won't have most of it done by Christmas (maybe by next Christmas). I have plans for many more quilts, but as I said, quilting can be expensive. I think I have spent about $4000.00 dollars this year. Next year must be better, because I want to retire, but my quilting habit won't let me.
Well, we'll see. I'll post pictures as soon as I learn how.
